Murder

Murder is the unjustified killing of another with malice aforethought, 16-3-10. If you are charged with murder or accessory to murder, you are facing substantial consequences if convicted. You must have an attorney experienced in the complexities of a murder case to protect your rights and to guarantee the State does not take advantage of you. You may have serious legal defenses including self-defense, mistake, or accident. You may also not be guilty of murder but instead guilty of a lesser offense such as manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter which could substantially reduce your exposure to incarceration and possibly even allow you to receive probation. A murder case is very complicated. It can include serious legal and evidentiary issues such as DNA, fingerprints, search and seizure, Miranda Rights, forensic issues, ballistic evidence, gunshot residue. You need someone experienced in murder cases that has dealt with your issues before and is experienced in all of these types of evidentiary matters.
